A few days in Norfolk where we will travel around and combine landscape photography with the wildlife which is the resident Seals of Norfolk going through the annual “moult” and we will be there and cross everything for the Epic Bird Spectacle too this is on a specific day due to tide times & Mother Nature so is not negotiable.
The landscape element can include the Norfolk Broads with the windmills & water pumps etc; the coast at sunrise can be be quite something, sand dunes, beaches, lighthouse, battered sea defences, pier at Cromer, beach huts at Overstrand & Wells next the sea, Blakeney Point.If time allows and participants won’t to then of course the seals will back in their thousands to go through “The Moult” so lots of shimmying and shaking, rubbing and rollicking to shed the old skin which the gulls will possibly fight over.
Days will still be relatively short and the sun fairly low in the sky all day so the shadows still long and the quality of light at this time of year will “hopefully” be kind to us.
As elements of this trip will be “real wildlife” situations when we are around the seals in their territory “long lenses will be needed” & I will insist on the appropriate safe distance being kept between us and the seals and of course these will be useful for the birding too though hopefully not necessary due to huge numbers.
If you need advice on equipment please ask me, 200mm minimum on a high pixel count camera or 300mm and above will be sufficient.
Norfolk can be a bit feisty with the weather coming in off the North sea, warm clothing, wind proof clothing, waterproofs (hopefully not needed), sturdy walking footwear is advisable, gloves & hats.
